6TH SILLAG PORO POINT FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Sillag, the annual summer festival, was celebrated for the 6th straight year last April 7, 2017 in Poro Point, San Fernando City, La Union. Sillag comes from the Ilocano word “Sellag” which means moonbeam or illumination from the moon. This year’s event identified Poro Point’s unique histortical landmark Lighthouse, as the focal point of the festival, with “hope” as its central message. The three-day event and festival is participated by people all over the province of La Union as well as tourists from nearby provinces.

Activities of this year’s 6th Sillag Festival of Lights include Sunset Run For Hope (Fun Run), lighting of Sillag Village, releasing of a thousand paper lanterns, pyro-musical show, children’s show, concerts, street-dancing competition, bonsai competition and art contest.

Rang-ay Head Office officers and staff joined the Sillag Run for Hope. The bankers also pariticipated in the event’s highlight of the night, the releasing of “Hope Lanterns.” Hundreds of hope lantern lit up the night sky to mark another memorable Sillag Festival.
