ATTY. RODOLFO M. NISCE (MAY 23, 1921 – APRIL 30, 1993)

Rang-ay Bank commemorates the 100th birth anniversary of the late Atty. Rodolfo M. Nisce, who was born on May 23, 1921, in Luna, La Union to Don Teofilo Nisce and Rosario Madamba of Dingras, Ilocos Norte. Together with his wife, Eufrosina Querol, and other members of their family, they put up Rang-ay Bank in 1956. Atty. Nisce served as the first President of the bank since it’s establishment in 1956 up to 1976 and then was the Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1977 until he passed away in 1993. He guided the first private bank in La Union to become the biggest in its class in the Ilocos and Cordillera Regions with 30 branches in the six provinces of La Union, Ilocos Sur & Norte, Pangasinan, Abra and Benguet.

Atty. Nisce is a born leader and a very civic-oriented person who helped organize the 1st Rotary Club of La Union and became its president. He was then elected as District Governor of Rotary International, the first Rotarian from Region I to be elected to such position. He was also active in religious and charitable organizations and served as Provincial Board member of the province of La Union from 1980 to 1986.

The bank partnered with the Rotary Club of San Fernando, La Union to set up the Rotary PDG Rudy Nisce Foundation which supports deserving students pursue their college education.

DISINFECTION OF BANK PREMISES

In view of the prevailing threat of Covid-19, Rang-ay Bank in coordination with the Local Government Units (LGUs) and service providers Environet & New Norms, continue to conduct deep disinfection and complete sanitation in all branches of the bank. During the months of April and May 2021 several branches again underwent this procedure.

This is part of the bank’s covid-19 protocols to prevent the virus from spreading and to ensure the safety of our clients as well as bank personnel. Rang-ay Bank strictly follows precautionary health measures, especially inside the bank premises.

We urge the public to wear facemasks and face shields all the time, frequent hand washing & sanitation and observe social distancing. Let us unite to stop covid-19.

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

Rang-ay Bank continues to undertake community projects coupled with Financial Literacy Trainings. It is the bank’s way of expressing its love and care to the local populace who also puts their trust in Rang-ay Bank.

San Fernando (La Union) Main Branch marked the bank’s 65th Anniversary by donating monoblock chairs to Maris Ti Daya Multi Purpose Cooperative located in Sitio Parparya, Brgy. Nagyubuyuban, City of San Fernando, La Union last March 30, 2021. The cooperative is headed by Chairman Marivic Judan. She expressed her appreciation to Rang-ay Bank for supporting their cooperative. The Rang-ay Marketing Team also conducted a Financial Literacy Training to educate the members of the coop on the importance of saving.

Rang-ay Bank Balaoan (La Union) Branch marked its 15th Anniversary with the donation of fifty (50) chairs, ten (10) tables and office supplies to the senior citizens of Santol, La Union last April 8, 2021. The team led by Balaoan Senior Branch Manager Maria Dulce Gonzalo together with Marketing Team delivered the donations to the Officers of the Federation and conducted Financial Literacy Training focusing on fraud and scam awareness. OSCA President Corazon Arellano expressed her gratitude to Rang-ay Bank in behalf of more than 1,000 members of the senior citizens federation.

Rang-ay Bank Aringay (La Union) Branch donated grocery packs containing rice, coffee, alcohol and faceshields to indigent families residing in San Benito Sur, Aringay, La Union last May 4, 2021. Aringay Branch Manager Analyn Mendigoria with the banks Marketing Team turned over the handbags to San Benito Sur Brgy. Chairman Helen Frigiliana who identified and distributed the bags to the beneficiaries. Amidst these trying times, Rang-ay Bank with the support of the Local Government Units (LGUs) remain committed in adovocating volunteerism to help alleviate the health, economic, safety, and security threats of the Covid-19 pandemic to our kababayans.

SALIP TI PANAGSURAT ITI DANIW

To celebrate National Heritage Month, Rang-ay Bank conducted the Salip iti Panagsurat iti Daniw (Online Poetry Writing Contest) in coordination with Gunglo dagiti Mannurat nga Ilokano (GUMIL) Filipinas San Fernando (LU) Chapter headed by its President, Ms. Djuna Alcantara. The contest aims to instill in the consciousness of the Ilokanos, the legacy of the Iloko Language.

Rang-ay Bank’s partner in this endeavor is GUMIL Filipinas (GF), an active group of Ilokano writers in the Philippines and abroad with hundreds of active writer-members worldwide.

The winners for the Online Iloko-Poetry Writing Contest are Richie Noveloso of Luna, La Union (1st place), Kaye-Cee Lacar Alejandro of Caba, La Union (2nd), Tricia Mae Cruz of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur (3rd), Claudine Flores of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur (4th), Cheryl Galon of Candon, Ilocos Sur (5th) and Michael John Ancheta of Bacarra, Ilocos Norte (6th).

The judges are: Mr. Peter La Julian, a writer and a lecturer in journalism and Ilokano writing; Dr. Edilberto Angco, an Ilokano and English writer who was also former Director of Public Relations and Publications Department, Philippine Red Cross National Headquarters and Mr. Al Gerald Barde, GUMIL LUSFC Director and Youth Club Adviser. Some 66 entries were officially submitted by contestant writers aging from 15 to 35 years old from Region I and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

RANG-AY CARES FOR SENIORS AND PWDs

Rang-ay Bank Rosario (La Union) Branch marked its 3rd Anniversary serving the people of Rosario through a donation of 120 health kits to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs). The turnover event was conducted at the Municipal Covered Court last April 19, 2021.

The Rang-ay team presented the health kits, each containing one box of vitamin C, one box of facemasks, faceshield and alcohol to Rosario Mayor Atty. Bellarmin Flores II. The Mayor and the Rang-ay team distributed kits to the seniors and PWDs in a special meeting. During the short program, the Mayor expressed his gratitude to Rang-ay Bank in behalf of the Senior Citizen Federations and PWDs of Rosario for thinking of the wellbeing, health, and safety of the seniors and less fortunate of the municipality.

As we pursue our lives in the new normal, Rang-ay Bank also continues to extend support to the local communities by conducting community projects in the communities where it’s branches are located. Projects organized by the bank are properly coordinated with their respective Local Government Units (LGUs). All Covid and safety protocols are followed in each event as the bank wishes everyone to stay safe and healthy.
