SALIP TI PANAGSURAT ITI DANIW

To celebrate National Heritage Month, Rang-ay Bank conducted the Salip iti Panagsurat iti Daniw (Online Poetry Writing Contest) in coordination with Gunglo dagiti Mannurat nga Ilokano (GUMIL) Filipinas San Fernando (LU) Chapter headed by its President, Ms. Djuna Alcantara. The contest aims to instill in the consciousness of the Ilokanos, the legacy of the Iloko Language.

Rang-ay Bank’s partner in this endeavor is GUMIL Filipinas (GF), an active group of Ilokano writers in the Philippines and abroad with hundreds of active writer-members worldwide.

The winners for the Online Iloko-Poetry Writing Contest are Richie Noveloso of Luna, La Union (1st place), Kaye-Cee Lacar Alejandro of Caba, La Union (2nd), Tricia Mae Cruz of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur (3rd), Claudine Flores of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur (4th), Cheryl Galon of Candon, Ilocos Sur (5th) and Michael John Ancheta of Bacarra, Ilocos Norte (6th).

The judges are: Mr. Peter La Julian, a writer and a lecturer in journalism and Ilokano writing; Dr. Edilberto Angco, an Ilokano and English writer who was also former Director of Public Relations and Publications Department, Philippine Red Cross National Headquarters and Mr. Al Gerald Barde, GUMIL LUSFC Director and Youth Club Adviser. Some 66 entries were officially submitted by contestant writers aging from 15 to 35 years old from Region I and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
